Scrumdiddlyumptious! The limited edition Sugar & Spice collection from Jo Malone is all sorts of luscious, embodying 5 tasty treats that tempt the tastebuds; Lemon Tart, Redcurrant & Cream, Elderflower & Gooseberry, Ginger Biscuit and my favorite, Bitter Orange & Chocolate. All 5 take after a beloved dessert that are sure to tempt your senses, time to taste with your nose!
I really dislike the smell of orange but I have to admit Bitter Orange & Chocolate is all sorts of divine, mixed in with the rich dark chocolate and its practically addictive. The aroma is warm but not overwhelming and truth be told, actually made my mouth water a little! Any chocolate addict would mistake this for the real deal. I am so gutted they are sold out of it already in HK, I need to get my hands on a bottle somehow!
Redcurrant & Cream keeps it lively and uncomplicated with a mix of redcurrants, strawberries and raspberries that bring a real kick. Based on sweet summer desserts, they've really encapsulated the scent tangy tarts. I'm not sure if they added mint but theres something very fresh to it that lingers after you spray. I've been using this one the most so far, its just so energetic and sweet.
I wasn't wow'd by Lemon Tart, in fact it was slightly underwhelming. The scent is a mix of citrus fruits, verbena and lemon thyme, definitely refreshing however it felt particularly predictable. Even after trying to mix and match it with other Jo Malone scents I didn't love it, but try it for yourself, perfumes smell different on different people!
Elderflower & Gooseberry is light and dreamy, fusing summer green gooseberries with lychee's and soft tones of elderflower. The aroma isn't a burst of flavour like the others, it's much more mild, actually quite relaxing and immensely romantic...what I imagine pastel shades would smell like. I wish they made a room spray of this blend, it would be a soothing scent to come home to.
A whiff of Ginger Biscuit and I'm dying to sit down for cookies and tea. Its a rich scent with buttery notes, that quickly follow with a delicious kick of cinnamon and nutmeg. The warm tonka bean and vanilla eventually makes it too yummy not to love, it perfectly evokes a warm biscuit that melts in your mouth. And of course, it reminds me of snacking on gingerbread men during christmas, droooool, I now have the scent of freshly baked goods on demand.
My tasty trio, awaiting the Bitter Orange & Chocolate to join.
